Call to Action - Wed. Feb. 25th, 4 pm - Show Up at Board of Regents’ Meeting to Defend Higher Education
The Iowa Board of Regents will be meeting on Wednesday, February 25th on the University of Iowa campus. This meeting comes at a critical moment for Iowa’s public universities, as the Iowa legislature is attempting what Forbes Magazine terms “one of the most far-reaching makeovers of higher education any state has attempted in recent years.” So far, the Board of Regents has chosen to stay silent. So has the University.
No one is speaking up for you - but your voice matters! When we fight together, we win.
What can you do?
4 p.m., The Leavitt Center for Advancement, 1 E Park Rd., Iowa City, IA
Show up! Bring friends! Help us pack the room to send the clear message that we need the Regents to stand up for quality, independent higher education in Iowa.
Support your fellow AAUP members, students, and others who will be calling publicly on the Regents to defend Iowa’s public universities from partisan takeover.
If you wish to make your own public comment, you can see the full agenda and sign up here. Please email us at aaupuiowa@proton.me if you will be speaking and would like support.
Stay for a rally at 5 p.m., co-sponsored by COGS and SEIU.
